This is considered as the most dominant symptom of the condition. Chest pain may worsen when the afflicted individual decided to lie down after a meal and this may last for several hours. The burning sensation that causes chest pain may reach the throat where the patient may feel like something is stuck in the throat, thus resulting to another common symptom.

In case acid reflux treatment is ineffective or the condition is left untreated, the acid from the stomach can irritate the gums and destroy the teeth enamel, thus resulting to tooth decay. Aside from the teeth, the saliva can be affected by the condition as well. This is when the bitterness from the gastric acid stimulates excessive production of saliva, thus leaving a bitter taste in the mouth.

My sister is experiencing all these, and we thought she’s just being a baby. Complaining that she can’t swallow food and that her sense of taste is different. We brought her to a doctor but said that there’s nothing wrong. It could’ve been acid reflux. It was never considered.

See a gastroenterologist. They will know what to do next to confirm if it’s really acid reflux or maybe something else.
